well its been so long since i've last blogged as usual... i think i'll just give up saying i'm gonna blog regularly from now on cos i won't. haha.
anyway so much has happened. i finally quit my job at rajah and tann... if it was even considered a job, internship whatever. so boring! i'm seriously rethinking taking up law as my course in the uni...i mean during the attachment, such a short time and just skimming the surface of the content and i'm alr bored. what more everything??? and that, is not even considering whether i can make it into law. hur.
speaking of that, it was officially out today... d-day is on wed! fuck. we're getting back our results in like 3 days. i dunno really dunno what to expect. i'm just hoping and praying for the best. yea... as you can tell i am a little down cos i'm damn worried.
anyway i got another job!
haha i've got a hell lot of reactions to this one. i'm at IMh! yes aka woodbridge institute for the clinically insane... no comments wanted ok- i've heard them all. from "oh you can get free treatment then. harharhar." to "are you sure you aren't a patient there? har har har" to outright "you work at the looney bin?!"- haha save it. all the potential commediennes in every one of you can't seem to get past the humour in it right*withering glare.
haha work started a little dull, just sorting and tracing case files. but when i get lucky i'm allowed to deliver files to the doctor's office and see them treating patients! oh and now i'm sorta like one of the operators at the call centre. yes. i've become one of those bitches who go "please hold!" and play stupid music for you to hear while they transfer your call around or source for your info. haha i have ultimate poweerrr ahaAHAA! whatever la. but truthfully i haven't really been mean to anyone... i mean they are imbalanced... give them a break.
the peripheral of the job is damn exciting although the job itself can be pretty mundane. i mean like saying "good morning/aftn/evening, IMh, lisa speaking how may i help" like 500 times a day isn't exactly a challenge, but what makes up for it is what you get to see around the hospital. to me its damn exciting but the rest of the staff are like immune to it! so far i've run into :
1) a potentially dangerous mad man. seriously. he was staggering around like a drunkard. he circled my table and ended up behind me. i was never so scared in my entire life! i did not move a single muscle in my body. i don't even think i was breathing. then he leered in front of me and asked some insane question. i acted as if it was totally normal, you know seeing mad drunks shouting in your face everyday, and just answered him. remembering to keep steady eye contact and don't blink too much. haha. then he went off. phew.
2) a really amusing and funny mad man. he started off seemingly normal ok. offering me a sweet(which i didn't take. haha) and asking me usual boring stuff like which course i wannna do after this, which uni i wanna go to blah blah. the usual cny fare. then he walked off.
soon enough, he returned. and then he started to go a teeny weeny bit off tangent... it started with him saying how i had to protect my cash, my posbank card...my house deeds and legal documents. err ok... i tried not to let my smile waver.
then he started talking about my invisible brothers. and then advising me to wear my pretty party dresses and go dancing with my boyfreinds more often, and settle down early. ??!?
right about now i was just bobbing my head up and down like an idiot just agreeing with anything he said. it was obvious he was in a different time and place! he kept calling me ms ho. ?!?
he went off and well, came back again. this time i was a ms Ong. and he started telling me he was a founder of an oil company called soong yee. i just sat there listening to him... obviously he had alot on his mind. i mean he wasn't dangerous or anything. so i decided to play along. he didn't seem classified as a high-risk patient anyhow. i think. anyway i'm still alive so yup.
so i asked him "uncle you're visiting people here is it?" which was well, the roundabout way of confirming that he was obviously an inpatient at imh. "yes i am". yeah right.
then i was like "sooo. do you have children?" apparently he didn't, so this ms ho/ong i was supposed to be, well it wasn't his daughter. haha what? i thought if i could roughly gauge who i was supposed to be it would've been easier to carry out the conversation!
but wandering around the place, you can definitely tell the difference between the sane and the disturbed people... sane people have a purpose and move with a certain destination or motive in mind while the disturbed ones, they just drift around. aimlessly.
but i have to say the saddest part of they job is the same reason which makes it interesting. sometimes you hear people wailing and screaming seemingly for no reason. and there are common sad cases, like this lady who was bawling in the waiting room, which i found out from the nurses later was because her bf made her preg and dumped her. (as an aside, what a fucker.)
seriously it goes beyond anything i've seen or experienced. i think all these people have a really sad story and sometimes all they need is someone to hear them out. i won't say they are mad i guess, just that something obviously made a really really large impact on them.
anyway i went clubbing with my long lost mg mates i think last last week. i know its awhile back but this is a shout out to you loves: esp to mel and addy, lilin shar and michkee. thanx for being there with me during the whole terrible stupour i was in! wasn't exactly the clubbing-bonding thing i had in mind and i'm so sorry! i promise it won't be like that next time if you guys still want to go again =) just leave me with mad ashton so the drunks will be isolated k? thanx ya all.
i thought what you did was pretty low. after the initial disgust wore off it just hurt more than anything. calling you a friend is an insult to me.

ok well i'm back in the lovely corporate world boring suits and even more boring work. haha. i wonder how i'm gonna go to work next time. anyway apparently they find photocopying stuff and copy typing beneath an intern so well. i did try. now i'm reading this 2 cm thick thing called a prospectus. its like a whole history and profile and knowledge of everything and everyone in the client company, backgrounds and all the official stuff. so its really exciting to read. i wonder how people do this for a living?? no offense to any lawyers btw.
anyway i had another sit in at church this sunday. it was hilarious i tell you. you know i think every kid has the potential to be on the Kids Say the Darndest Things show. the best part is it isn't constructed or rehearsed.
ok so anyway the class was doing this worksheet thingie on the ten commandments. it was one of those code things, for eg A rep by a triangle, B rep by a circle etc, so they basically hafta fill in the blanks.
qtn: thou shall not commit __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __. the answer was adultery la.
boy: thou shall not commit... suicide. suicide! (all the kids start agreeing and marvelling at how he managed to guess the answer)
teacher1: ok just try and fill in the blanks first. (ok so they continue with the worksheet. one thing about these kids they can be intimidated into obedience. muahaha.)
boy: ( finishes the question) thou shall not commit... a.dul..ter...yy. whats kind of word is that??
teacher1: ( ok the teachers are 2 guys... not exactly the motherly sort. they look at each other and the faster one says-) you explain.
(ok so there's a bit of muttering and choking, if thats the right word. mind you they never got it out. haha! i would've almost felt sorry for them if i hadn't been dying trying to stop laughing. of course not aloud la. meanwhile-)
boys: whats that? WHATS THAT?
so in the end the question was ignored.
later they were going thru the worksheet, simplifying the terms for the kids. when they reached that very awkward question-
treacher: ok skip.
boys: huh? why? WHY? WHYYYY
haha it was sooo funny. but another good thing about kids is that they can be 1) very persistant and stubborn or 2) have the attention span of a fly. fortunately for us- them- the children in our class were of species 2. haha.
i tell you every week i go theres at least one little imp who says something damn awkward. but its so cute cos they are damn innocent and clueless. cute for me la, as an observer. haha! well (maayybee.. ) sooner or later i'll have to deal with stuff like that too if i'm posted to a class.
ok that was the longest most tedious post ever in between sneaking around. ciao!

ok! i sorted out my skin already. go figure. its just too taxing to explain everything! haha
anyway now i'm at my admin job at rajah and tann and i'm bored out of my mind!! ok its not even a job its more of an attachment. pah. the uni interns are too busy to talk and everyone has something to do except me!! so i'm waiting for work to fall into my lap. can you imagine. how ironic. anyway now i'm just bumming around...looking for some mags but they have nothing here except textbooks. god these people need some excitement. maybe i should start a fire.
ok i have to be kinda sneaky about blogging cos i don't think i'm allowed to. and really i don't need them to catch me proclaiming about how boring they are. hmmm... maybe i'll just wander around and look for someone to entertain me. or give me something to do so i wouldn't go mad.
